Our Success Story
FC Rapid București
In November 2018, APS strategically acquired a 40% equity stake in FC Rapid București from existing shareholders through a direct share deal and debt restructuring. The sale was completed after the Rapid entity acquired the RAPID trademark during bankruptcy proceedings. At the time, the football club was competing in Romania’s 3rd league.
Domestically, FC Rapid București is one of the most successful clubs in Romania, having won three national titles, 13 Cupa României, and four Supercupa României. Internationally, its highest achievements are reaching the quarterfinals of the 1972–73 European Cup Winners’ Cup and the 2005–06 UEFA Cup, and the final of the 1940 Mitropa Cup – the latter not being played because of World War II. After declaring bankruptcy in 2016, APS played a pivotal role in the club’s revival, leading to its return to the top division, Liga I, by 2021.
Between 2018 and 2021, under the management of APS, FC Rapid București ascended from the 3rd league to 1st league (Liga I). During this period, APS increased its ownership to a majority stake. In April 2022, having successfully revitalized the club and achieved significant milestones, APS divested its shares, thereby exited the Romanian football market.
